Habari Gani!

Oh,Habari Gani means "what's the word" or "what's new" in Swahili. During Kwanzaa, the proper greeting is Habari Gani! And the proper response is the principle of that day.So today, you'd respond Kujichagulia!
In case you didn't know, we are on the 2nd day of Kwanzaa. Yesterday, December 26 of every year is the date to begin celebrating African American culture, achievement, and pride with a reiteration of principles Kwanzaa stands for
Lil bit of info on this holiday. AND NO, THIS IS NOT THE "BLACK PEOPLE'S CHRISTMAS" OR THE "NIGGA NEW YEAR."
It's a celebration of US.
Though sometimes over commercialized while at the same time overlooked, I feel Kwanzaa should be celebrated everyday. Of course we say that about Thanksgiving and Christmas, but people rarely do it. I see Kwanzaa as a holiday empowering our people to uplift ourselves and each other, regardless of time of year. Ah don't get me a preachin, here's a lil info on them candles n corn n shit...

The Nguzo Saba - The Seven Principles of Kwanzaa
NGUZO SABA
(The Seven Principles)
Umoja (unity)
To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation and race.
Kujichagulia (self-determination)
To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves.
Ujima (collective work and responsibility)
To build and maintain our community together and make our brother's and sister's problems our problems and to solve them together.
Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics)
To build and maintain our own stores, shops and other businesses and to profit from them together.
Nia (purpose)
To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.
Kuumba (Creativity)
To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.
Imani (faith)
To believe with all our heart in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.

K-Swiss...the beef will NOT b squashed.

WHO THE FUCK K-SWISS THINK THEY ARE??
I'm sorry, I've hated K-Swiss ALL my life. My mom bought me a pair when I was like 11. That's when it started. EVERYONE and they mama had a pair and though I didn't REQUEST them when Mom gave em to me I was sure I was bout to stunt on these hoes.
Guess not.
Those boat shaped over-striped pieces of shit ruined every outfit I owned. Maybe cuz back then I was rockin my I-like-rock-music-although-I'm-from-103rd look but I always felt fashionably insulted by K-Swiss. Then they had that pointy toe thing goin on. Dudes lookin like they wearin leather upper heels and shit.
Yea I'm hatin, and I know ppl who rocked every pair of K-Swiss ever made. I don't understand them nor will I ever.
So back to the point of this post, which is no point. K-Swiss has released their limited edition pair which is high top and can ALMOST pass for a decent lookin shoe.
But almost doesn't count.
I'll die a happy sneaker lover if my toes never taste K-Swiss again. I don't like them, I never will, and God Bless your wardrobe if you feel differently.
Ironically, K-Swiss started as a high top shoe and was later developed into the tennis piece of shit we see 2day. Just thought I'd let you know. Good day.

Another GREAT loss...

Rest In Peace Ms.Alaina Reed Hall, cast member of "Sesame Street" and the sweet neighborhood gossip on "227." She passed December 17 in Los Angeles after a long battle with breast cancer at the age of 63.
From 1976 to the late 80's she starred as Olivia on Sesame Street, claiming in 2004 that "it was the best job I ever had." Then in 1985 she was cast on the sitcom 227. Now if you didn't watch 227 suicide yourself lol.
I'm a huge fan of Reed, even outside of her television career. She went on to have small parts in movies and some stints on Broadway (Hair, Chicago). Also an excellent singer, she released a single "Bad for my Head" in 1972.
As we pray for the Hall family and of course everyone she touched, please keep in mind the ever-present need for breast cancer research.
Just think,in 2007 19% of all deaths of African American women was breast cancer.
Please Please Please know, love, and support Pink.
Rest In Peace Olivia.

Please visit www.breastcancer.org or www.komen.org for more information on breast cancer and how you can help out. Peace.

Interview w/a Black Man Who Dates Outside His Race

So over the weekend my high school partner in crime hit me up on some serious shit. He's a Black man who has decided to date outside his race. This is taken from a Facebook chat session. I was given permission 2 cut n paste so shut up!
I asked him if I could blog this cuz this is and always will be an unfinished issue. Warning, this is pretty long but u might learn sumtin. I know I did.

Me:Like I said b4,there are a ton of circumstances. However I still feel that Black men who date outside their race have a disconnect from their culture. My stance is the more you love your culture, the more you'll desire a woman of that culture.

Him: Ok and you know I understand your stance on that one and don't get me wrong as you know I'm truly involved and always learning more and more about our culture. And I also love our black women, but the problem that I see alot coming from black women in our generation is the lack of encouragement that they give to our black men. Especially the good ones, at times it seems as if not only are they discouraging but they talk down to our black men which in part leads alot of the good ones to look to other races for that support.

Me: I feel u on that,I do notice alot of Black men who try hard as hell but still get the short end of the bitch stick from Black women. In some cases, women are RAISED to hate men

HOWEVER

I date Black men all the time, and my issues is they act like they're owed sumtin simply cuz there's a lack of good black men out there. Alot expect me to hop in2 relationships or be their next baby mamma.

Some Black men are just downright spoiled; raised by just a woman,so they expect everything from THEIR woman.

Him: Ok I that I see a lot out their too but those aren't the ones that I truly consider the good black men. Good black men know how to treat their women like the queens that they are and don't look put off that vibe of feeling like our black women owe them something.

Actually those the type of dudes I think in part make black women, some of them, act the way that they act now

As if we have to show them something, if you get what I'm saying, instead of actually staying behind their man and helping them achieve something great. As you know behind every great man there is a great woman and sometimes our women need to realize that what we need is encouragement to help us achieve that true greatness

Me: I see what u sayin but what we call a "good black man" has changed and adapted to what Black women require

And not to blame the media but let's be real,it's exotic n exciting and almost historically endearing that a black man date outside his race. Therefore over time men have slowly but surely started improving themselves to attract all women, not just BLACK women. But Black women are raised to attract the black man. So it's not really a 2 way street

Him: It really isn't a 2 way street and yes the media has pretty much put it out there that its ok that black men date women outside their race. We see it all the time from our athletes, celebrities, civil rights activists, pretty much everywhere.

The question though to me comes down to is why. And at the moment I'm seeing first hand why black men just decide to go outside their own race

Me: I feel like this, many black men give up too easily. To switch to another race due to lack of support is lazy to me,understandable, but lazy. Black men should set standards for the women they date and never go back on them. there are black women, TOO MANY black women willing to go the extra 10 miles a black man, but her ass aint big enuff...

or her hair aint done, she bitch too much

...blah blah blah

Him: lol

I understand that sometimes we give up way to easy I see that happening alot but that encouraging and standing behind your man is, to me, one of the most important qualities that a women should have and it seems that when I come across black women most don't posses that quality

Me: and yes as black women we do request alot, but it's cuz alot of black men refuse to acknowledge all we do AND all we're expected to do. These niggas want a 5 star chick when they dont meet the standards of a 3 star mistake. THEN some Black women just feed in2 it by takin on the "hot girl" persona for a nigga who KNOW HE AINT SHIT

Him: True and that's why I said before that blame doesn't just fall only on our black women

Me: It's def a catch 22,cuz that's what both black men AND women want from each other, support. So if we both want the same thing, why can't we just support each other, call it a day? WHY? Cuz black ppl are always too prideful about the WRONG SHIT.

Him: Alot has to do with those no good ass niggas that keep hurting our good black women

Me: And these no good hoes making good black women look like...hoes lol.

Him: lol they truly are, but to go back to the question and point of us being to prideful and why we can't support each other it just seems that the good ones don't want to put themselves out there and actually fully support someone because they're just afraid to get burned again.

Me:I feel that I feel that, but where in that void of insecurity is there room for a white woman? What makes a woman of a different race more eligible to receive that full support and love from a black man?

Him: Well cuz from what I'm experiencing first hand I can see that the woman that I'm getting to know is just alot more positive, more encouraging, more willing to stand behind at the time when you are working your way to trying to establish something. Just pretty much always trying to help me realize that I can keep on going and achieve all the goals and then some that I want to achieve

When on the other hand with black women they want you to already be pretty much rich or at the place in your life where you truly are making all the money that you want, and sometimes just fail to realize that what a man with ambitions and dreams really needs is that extra special someone to push them over the top to achieve that.

Me: and that's all good. I'm w/that, whoever supports u,support them. But my thing is,is that the answer? Ur a good dude,u've looked 4 good black women, and couldn't. Imagine all the other brothas w/that same story and all the GOOD sistas missin out cuz of it?

Him: I be imagining it and that's why I was so torn on actually trying to make the decision on whether I should look elsewhere for that support cuz like I said I LOVE our black women. Love to death but it's just hard, real real hard to find one that has their priorities in order

Me: i understand

so when u do meet black women w/their shit in order, what happens? Where's the disconnect?

Him:But you know at the moment I have to make another move so I want to go farther into this conversation, mainly because I want to get into the different things, especially on the media side that our black men and artists out there can do to help build up our black women and not treat them or display them as hoes but I'm go ahead and answer that last question

Me: it's all good,we can pick up i got this all saved

Him: Honestly I only met one black woman that had her shit in order and it was just remarkable the only problem that came along was that our goals in life had a disconnect and where we wanted to end up and live as in one person wanted to move overseas cuz that's where they felt like they were called while the other wanted to do work in the states and help out the people in the black communities

Me: Oh i c

Him: So we just felt it was best to just part ways cuz it would've been extremely hard to make that work one being stateside while the other was overseas

The convo cut off,we will be picking this back up. But it's enough for ya'll to let marinate. What do u think? Do u agree w/me,or Him? Or do u have a totally different stance? Hit me back!

Virgin Mary...Bustin Out!!

Finally, Christmas gets sexy!

In Los Angeles, Madison 3rd Street store was protested last week for their nativity store display. Apparently the scene was too sexy, with the Virgin Mary donning a short dress with an eagle spread, holding the baby Jesus. The "3 wise men" are all Rodeo Drive ready while an angel appears to be coming down from heaven...or the 2nd floor of Express. Whatever.
I wasn't even gonna write about this cuz it's the pettiest story I've heard all week. Of course this raises moral and religious concerns, but why? Look, I mean really look at what Christmas has become.
Women are getting trampled 2 get a toy hamster, there are books on how to "re-gift" properly, and some schools won't even allow children to have Christmas/holiday parties. Due to America's need to be politically correct Christmas has become a circus, an elite aftermath of Thanksgiving and any missed birthdays combined, not to mention a chance to "get into the spirit." While "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown" gets cut into by President Obama's war announcement, little kids are told Santa doesn't exist cuz they're not Christian.
So when I thought about this story I wondered what's the big deal? This store is doin what every other business does-using the hype of the moment to attract business. Christmas has lost it's meaning in America simply cuz it's a religious holiday, and this is a culturally ignorant society. America has an economical, NOT moral or ethical, need for Christmas and the only way to feed that need is making sure EVERYONE can celebrate Christmas, without really celebrating Christmas.
I think the store manager had the perspective of trying to be open minded and traditional. That's it. I don't see any success in simply putting Santa's fat ass in the window cuz Madison's shoppers are not traditional, they're trendy...like Mary's sexy ass in this window. Lol just kidding.
Really though, this is a try-to-please-everyone type of society. Land of free speech and expression, but also freedom of religion. Lol like that was ever a good idea!!
The protesters of this display are afraid. They're afraid that the good Christian tradition and morals this honest country was built upon are being spit on by the idea of creative evolution with the careful consideration that oh, I dunno, EVERYBODY DOESN'T BELIEVE IN JESUS!
It's important for stores and other businesses to start doing the same; taking advantage of their right to manipulate society's thwarted view on morality to sell some shit. We've allowed our cocky habits to make us think other ppl have to give a fuck about our particular practices and beliefs. If ppl had left Christmas alone, this wouldn't be goin on,but we as a country have ordered each other to be so culturally sympathetic, instead of just not celebrating it,we want the holiday specially tailored and whatnot.
Why hasn't anyone mentioned how unhealthy Mary looks, or why the 3 wise men seem like 3 hot chicks? Cuz,that aint Christmas-argumenty enough. I like the damn display,it's different. And SO is this massacre we've been calling Christmas.

The D.E.N.I.S.E. Method!!

Never thought I'd need 2 refer to Denise Huxtable in a sexual manner again.

My friend IL. opened up a lil box of evil called the D.E.N.N.I.S. method. Taken from a scene from one my favorite shows "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" Dennis explains his method of hooking up w/a woman, breaking it off, AND getting her back w/o any emotional attachments. Basically how to be a successful playboy lol.
On IL.'s blog his stance was the method should be the D.E.N.I.S.E. method, named after Denise on "The Cosby Show" because she never really had boyfriends, she had friends. I remember her gettin engaged to that tall dark guy, but then again I'm in her defense anyway. Denise Huxtable was an early idol, so I'm biased. Nevertheless, here's my version of the D.E.N.I.S.E. method. I won't comment on my success/failures w/this method, for I'm not encouraging it. This is just how I've managed...

  • D.isturb
  • E.ngage
  • N.eglect
  • I.nspire
  • S.educe
  • E.vade
That's IL.'s method
Here's mine
  • D.efend
  • E.ngage
  • N.ullify Dependence
  • I.ntensify
  • S.eparate
  • E.volve

I highly suggest watching the video first, then continuing. Go on, I'll wait.

Yea and before I go on this IS for the single ppl only. Don't be fuckin up ur relationhips on my behalf. It's just a show, these are just theories.

1)DEFEND.When first meeting most/any guys, I'm asked why,wHy,WHY. Why am I not in a relationship, why I"m in this library, why I like Black ppl, etc. I avoid these questions cuz they are EMOTIONAL DRAW INS. I'm a pisces; fish know a hook when they see 1.
2)ENGAGE. Let's take the focus off me, and put it on you. Alot of the time guys wanna talk about themselves anyway, they just don't cuz it takes away from them looking like a "good listener."
3)NULLIFY DEPENDENCE.If 1 & 2 are done properly this step is natural.Keep all conversation light and flirty, limit doorways into ur problems and issues. This displays weakness. And eliminate emotions when intimate. Get turned on w/o all that eye-gazing, Anita Baker ass feelings. Make sure you have something else to do, someone else to see, blah blah.
4)INTENSIFY.Once you're in the moment, don't bullshit. That's what all the work is for, this scenario, so work it out. This is the imporession-leaving step, which like the D.E.N.N.I.S. method can almost guarantee a return, regardless of how step 5 goes...
5)SEPARATE.Nuff said. Get out,get away, bounce.Do it nicely, cuz ur a muhfuckin lady. U shouldn't have to lie either, cuz there was no emotional ties in the first place. You have things to do (step 3) and you're both grown. Now BOUNCE!
6)EVOLVE.Change,switch up the demo on this person. U cannot be that same giggly ass personality that got him/her the first time. You're dressing different, you have new friends, you eat cheddar instead of mozzarella. That way, if there is a next time you'll be able to restart the D.E.N.I.S.E. method successfully.

Lol I can't wait 2 see ur responses. And yes I still take emails if you rather not go public. Diori86@gmail.com

Eyes on the (Wrong) Prize

The following is a Facebook note posted by a good friend of mine, Mr. Clinton McClure. This is his profound view of Disney's "The Princess and the Frog." I agreed so much I had to re-post this. I think you too will find his perspective intriguing.

Posted Sunday, November 29, 2009
For a movie like Disney's "The Princess and the Frog" to be historic, in that it features a black woman in the lead role, it sure isn't getting a lot of fanfare among some blacks. Some have criticized the movie for giving her love interest - the archetypal prince - a light skin tone. A similar charge had been lodged against the movie "Precious". Despite being a powerfully raw portrait of an inner-city teen who suffers from frequent abuse from her parents, I have read comments from blogs and friends that the casting of light-skinned women as characters who offer help to the protagonist perpetuate the stereotype that moral character is inversely proportional to the amount of melanin in one's skin. While this belief is real and held by many, I wonder if the pursuit of countering these assumptions on the big and small screens and the much broader fight to deploy positive images of blacks through traditional media is as fruitful as the fight for social and economic justice. It may be ideal to have a hundred TV shows that mirror "The Cosby Show", but I wouldn't expect that day to come anytime soon. Making television shows and movies the battlefields for control over the display of racial identity takes the attention of blacks away from much more important efforts, such as education reform, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship, all of which would contribute to the ability of blacks to gain greater control of the media structure that, they charged, grossly misunderstands them.

The reason why these critiques of movies like the ones mentioned above inevitably fizzle is because they are not connected to a greater narrative about the impotency of blacks to create and control substantive, dynamic identities that can be spread throughout society. When Halle Berry won an Oscar for her role in "Monster's Ball", the prevailing criticism was that the only time a black woman wins an award for Best Actress is the time when she has to sleep with a white man. Whether this was credible or not, it didn't really go anywhere. It didn't connect to a larger story about the limited opportunities of black actors to perform in the same roles as their white counterparts. Neither did the charge that director Tyler Perry's fast-talking, gun-slinging alter ego, Madea, is popular only because she is nothing more than a one-(wo)man minstrel show. When critiques of black imagery in film and TV are only limited to one show or movie, it is difficult to connect the dots unless they are all arranged in a way that forms a bigger picture.

Some may argue that these critiques are just as important as those against welfare policy or education laws. If the protests against Don Imus and the 'dead Obama monkey' cartoon are any indication, then they seem to show the belief that activists are stamping out institutional racism within mainstream media. I don't deny that there are features of media structures that allow the gatekeepers and decision makers to shape the deployment of racial identity without any meaningful involement from the communities who ascribe to that identity. However, calling for Don Imus to be fired did not prevent CBS Radio from replacing Imus with some other shock jock, and carrying picket signs did not retract the cartoon out of the New York Post. Protesting against media companies will never succeed because civil rights law cannot be neatly applied to programming decisions that may case a light-skinned black actor in the leading role instead of a dark-skinned one. In addition, these companies can easily retreat to the shelter of the First Amendment. If we really wish to send a message to directors, musicians, producers, and the like, then we must do so in terms that the free market understands: with our dollars. If you don't like Tyler Perry's movies, don't pay $12 to go see them. If you don't like CBS for even hiring Don Imus, refuse to watch any of their programs. In other words, when it comes to business, the bottom line matters more than the picket line.

World AIDS Day

"I kissed his hand/before I got down on 1 knee/He said it was only love/That could heal his HIV."
--From "Bye Blood" by urs truly.
I haven't told many ppl of a dear friend that died of AIDS. Though we never dated,I was in love w/him. And when his HIV had developed into AIDS he started giving up. After a while it felt like I was dying w/him.
When he found out he had HIV it was almost 2 years after he was most likely infected.
I urge all of you, please protect yourselves, get tested, and if you are already infected, take care of yourselves. Keep hope. If you need information on HIV/AIDs, testing sites, where to get condoms, and how to stay healthy if you've been infected, here's some info for you

This shit is delicious!

I joke about my alcoholism but the truth is I'm a liquor punk. That's right it only takes me a couple sex on the beaches 2 wanna get sexy on a beach. I like it that way and I'm not really a drinker, I'm a smok...
...nevermind. Let's not dive into my poisons. Instead, I'll introduce Ty Ku. I found it on my usual twice a week (riiiiight) liquor rounds. When I do feel like drinking, unless it's E&J or Paul, I go for the light. I purchased the liqueur, which I thought would be super super sweet but it was a nice, citrus balance. It does kick ass w/a lil Kool-Aid and lime, but trust it's str8 solo on ice.
Plus the bottle lights up GREEN!
I think that's the REAL reason I bought it.
So there it is, great drank and a nightlight. I paid only 20 bucks for the bottle and the martini shaker it comes with. Now I gotta learn how 2 make a martini lol.
The website says it was featured on hella talk shows and won awards, great. Check it out 4 urself (the site is pretty sexy) at TryTyku.com
But I'll be honest, I bought it for the light up bottle lol

Drink resposibly worms!

Rihanna or Chris Brown...BOTH deserve forgiveness.

Shut up.
That's right, shut your mouth.
Before you go all ham, bet u muttering right now, "No this bitch not talkin bout Chris Brown need forgiveness, stupid as hell gone not write shit for almost a month then come back talkin that shit."
Lol I know u aint goin in like that, but it was funny in my head.
ANYWAY,photos and videos of the 2009 Bobby & Whitney show that they are indeed back together. I choose not to believe alot of celeb gossip, it's simply entertainment. But even a blind man can see this woman does not want to give that man up. And for that, she deserves forgiveness.
No,she's not asking for it,but she needs to. She needs to be right up there w/Chris Brown hittin every show from Ellen to Tyra apologizing for her behavior. You know why? Cuz just like Chris Brown set a bad example for young men, so did she for young women. She went back.
That's right. She went back, and for that I feel she's a terrible role model for young women. I think her going from interview to interviewer talking about how she's stronger and how women shouldn't allow a man to treat them like that blah blah blah then sit her silly ass up there and get back w/him. What message is that sending out?
I'm not judging Chris Brown, we all know what he did was dead wrong. But as footage is revealed of her involving herself w/him shows she's willing to take that chance of getting knocked out again. It's that oh so familiar feeling of hoping the person you're with changes for you, and though many do, it's probably not a good idea to get back w/the mofo till you're sure a person has decided to change.
Everyday we hear of domestic violence cases. And of course the men are the first to get the finger pointed at. But if you look closer into alot of cases (which you can check statistics of @ your local county police dept) many domestic violence cases are results of 2ND & 3RD TIME offenses that finally got charges.
Meaning, alot of the time in these cases men go to jail for hitting the women that they know will bail them out and take them back...ALOT of the time. I feel a man, like any person, will do as much as a person lets him. And if there's one species that pays attention to the way men respond it's YOUNG WOMEN. Rihanna took a strong stand against domestic abuse when speaking out on her relationship and her dangerously deep involvement. But then she took a weak step getting back w/dude not only so soon, but under the radar. Well, trying to be.
I feel Rihanna is setting a direct example of "doing anything for love." Though she's beautiful, she obviously has a deep self esteem problem. Any woman does who decides to return to a man who went so hard he needed to bite fingers. WTF man?
And I know,I experienced abuse in a relationship. It takes a deeply clouded mindset to accept being abused, let alone stay in a situation that's so extreme violence is even necessary.
I was fucked up, what can I say.
And I think the same of Rihanna, and that's fine, she's still young. We all be fucked up some of the time. Even if Chris never lays a hand on her again, which I pray for, young girls will take this example as a "one more chance" ticket. He beat her ass in public, meaning he's definitely done it in private, she cried and "healed," took him back and the media serves it up and them "working it out." Come on. I believe in forgiving but not forgetting. And in many cases, that one more chance has turned into women's one last chance at life.
Chris and Rihanna may stay together living happily ever after, but that's not how it always ends up. These are things I feel should be highlighted in these interviews.
We need to get to the root of these young women's insecurities allowing them to have abusive men in their lives, thus creating more abusive men. And don't sleep, women are abusing men at an alarming rate also. This problem starts with a person's thinking and ends with their self confidence level.
It's time we stop waiting for women to get abused to help them heal and empower women. The most inspiring stories are that of women getting over or escaping a man and THEN reaching her goal. I'm sick of it cuz once again, that's sort of my story.
There was a time a woman fought for freedom, for her beauty, for her ideas and right to learn. Nowadays we are independent only cuz we doin it "without a man."
So hopefully this gives you a new insight to women's important role in their own abuse by a man. Hopefully Rihanna learns that God never puts more on you than you can bear, so there's gotta be an escape route from the bullshit somewhere.

And if you or anyone you know is experiencing domestic abuse contact

Or you can hit me up. Real talk drop me a line. It's hard taking that first step; I got you.

Chicago Craigslist Jacker. Niggas better just stick w/Ebay!

So apparently you can't even sell shit on craigslist anymore. Our young Black men are just going ham, and I blame their thirst. It's NO love in the heart of this city. I love Chicago but damn!
20 year old Dwayne Williams was arrested in an undercover operation for robbing people at gunpoint. Williams posted merchandise for sale on craigslist.com, then would hold up the person coming to meet him to purchase the item.
Oh, let's not forget there's a super similar yet unrelated story with brothers Jalmar and Jamelle Smalling who also used craigslist for robbery and has been charged with 5 counts of armed robbery and one charge of attempted robbery.
Here's the creepy thing. All suspects are around the same age, Black, and both unrelated cases are literally within a few miles, if that of each other. Our Brothas need help ya'll.

Not to mention I wouldn't buy shit off craigslist anyway.

Where Da White Monkeys At?

Well at least this doll isn't dancing on a pole!

This past summer the nation was introduced to "Lil Monkey" baby doll, an African American complexioned doll nicknamed Lil Monkey (scrolled across her lil hat) who is also holding a monkey. The doll, a part of the "Cuddle With Me" doll series, is made by Brass Key, whose company has had great success with their porcelain dolls, in addition to their creations of many Disney doll lines and limited edition Mupphet figures. This is also the company that manufactured the famous lil Macy's bears. The "Cuddle With Me" doll series was manufactured for Costco in the early 1990's.

So when I saw the web-famous pic of "Lil Monkey" I knew there was more than a racist motive here. I mean come on, this company is pretty upscale, NOT SAYING AN UPSCALE COMPANY CAN'T PRODUCE SOMETHING THAT'S RACIST but just looking at their record, creating a black monkey doll with racial intentions is the worst financial risk that company could take. They create dolls for little girls of all races with manufacturers all over the world. They represent some of the top doll and toy distributors in history. What redneck idiot who sniffed too much before the business meeting would have the nonsense enough to agree to a doll DIRECTLY insulting African Americans? One with buffalo balls, that's for sure, but also one who really doesn't want his job anymore. I mean this doll doesn't hold back, it's a monkey on the box, on the hat, on the big, and on the monkey! Lol it's 2009, everyone knows you gotta sugarcoat your racism these days!
Then I found these pictures of another doll in the "Cuddle" series. It's the Lil Panda! Adorable! Then I found the white version of the Panda doll.So I looked, and looked, and looked, and still couldn't find the WHITE version of the MONKEY doll. And I think that's where the mistake was made. Yea,I think if Brass Key had put out more white monkey dolls it would've been fair game cuz that way every1's a monkey.Every1 can feel the same racism at the same time right? Naw.
But that's how it should be. I honestly don't see why this elite company would stoop so to smear their good name with petty racism. The doll looks cheap as hell at that.
I blame Costco, the doll series was made exclusively for their store chain and I'm sure the inventory can be controlled.SOMEBODY COULD'VE ASKED WHERE'S THE WHITE MONKEY!WHERE ARE THE PANDAS?There are ways to divert attention from lil black monkey over there.

People should be offended, I'm with that. But understand what you're offended for.The doll itself is cute, the monkey part, hmm,I gotta give the company the benefit of the doubt simply cuz if there's a white and black panda, there's got to be a black AND white monkey. So give Costco a chance. Before boycotting them and tellin all ya friends don't get ya 50 pack of tissue from there anymore, look into your Black activist heart and ask,"Where's the white monkeys?"

I'm sure Costco will be glad to answer lol.

I Tossed Your XBox Out My Car

(Originally posted on Facebook, felt like sharing lol)

After a bad breakup, time heals ur wounds. U begin to release everything you dislike about the person who hurt you, and you move on. You find new people, new love, and new happiness. BUT you never forget that one person, and the memories come back in flashes, negative and positive. It's just human nature, someone who's held ur emotions so long isn't gonna just disappear from your mind. And you shouldn't feel ashamed;you're still thinking about that someone, you probably still got love for him/her. It's okay to feel, to hurt, to heal.
And my way of healing is going absolutely ham! Yes the following is based on a very true story. I can look back and laugh...wait I never stopped laughing. You see, ANY memory from a bad relationship that can still keep you laughing is a good one. Therefore, I'm going to share my memory w/ya'll, in the form of a song.

I Tossed Ur Xbox Out My Car (lyrics written to "Bust Your Windows" by Jasmine Sullivan)

I tossed your XBox out my car
I dragged it right thru the streets of Hyde Park
It hit the pavement then rolled really far
I laughed the whole time while every1 saw
I tossed your Xbox out my car
You talked that shit I had to back it up
You had me trapped and I felt so stuck
That's why I snapped and I don't give a fuck (fuuuuck)
I must admit it didn't hurt a bit
It felt so good to destroy your shit
As a Buddhist I know that was sin
BUT at least you see what happens when
You try 2 turn a girl from nice to bad
Make you regret what you could've had
It felt so strange cuz that aint my style
But it is every once in a while (huh huh huh huh)
I tossed your XBox out my car
I guess I did haul off and go insane
Nigga be glad I left you w/some games
Made u get on the bus w/o no change
I tossed your XBox out my car
Never forgot how scared you looked that day
Locked u in my car n drove away
"You won't do shit" was all I had to say (saaaaay)
I gave my heart my soul my everything
You opened up my mind and made me sing
Then I saw you wasn't worth a damn
But I stood by callin you my man
Gone live ur life, have u some fun
Heard ya mom bought u another one
That's good cuz I wasn't payin for shit
Hopefully one day you'll learn from all of this...

I know I know. I never said I was perfect.Piss me off enough and shit happens. I too have learned my lesson. Well, sort of, lol. The song's funny cuz I want it to be, but understand that happened just this past summer. Since then I've been to many lows due to karma, and the fact that when you inflict pain on someone else it does come back. I'm gonna be honest, the nigga deserved alot more. Hell if I didn't know his laptop was a gift from his mom I woulda tossed that too. Men,Women, don't compare someone's feelings to the value of an object. Know why? Cuz that mofo will get tossed out my car. That's why.
I'm A Thug First.

Peace n Love ya'll, and don't do what I do lol.

Do Thugs Become Thugs cuz Women Want Thugs?

...or just thug money?

Many of my readers give me feedback on my blogs, and most of the time I use their comments for my next blog, and so on and so forth. So after my "Help Wanted! New Position, Always Hiring!" blog posted a reader made a good point. Sure it's alot of Black men on the corner, and it's messed up, but what about the women who force their men to have "trap star" careers so they can live the upgraded lifestyle...while still in the hood?
Well I don't give answers, I state opinions. First things first I do have to place blame on materialistic Black women. It's too many women out there STILL lonely cuz their #1 requirement in a man is he got to have money. Nuttin wrong w/that,I feel if you gettin cash you should have someone in your life who at least can match your status, and if he can't,you can tell he's trying.
But Brothas are dumb for LETTING women lead them into the corner hustla lifestyle too.So let's just get into it.
Hell I'll take a broke nigga in a minute, and everyone can check my ex for proof lol. But I'm simple; treat me right, cook me sumtin, fuck me till I fall asleep, and TRY. Whatever you wanna do but can't due to money, location, whatever as long as you attempt to go out and get it, I'm right there behind you. IF I leave the house for work in the morning and you're in the same position when I return back from work,we have a problem.Triflin niggas are triflin niggas. And all you triflin niggas know who the hell you are.
But many, MANY brothas are not triflin, THEY JUST UNEMPLOYED. And sistas, we gotta stop knockin em. It's hard as hell to get a job these days, and I see Black men hitting the pavement everyday.Young brothas donned in suits holding 20 resumes on the train with shallow but determined hope across their face. It can be disheartening looking for work, man or woman. But the Black Man in particular has a pride that is often held up by his ability to PROVIDE.So when he's not able, or can't afford, to provide for himself and family, he gets frustrated.
He gets really frustrated. He starts to hate himself, then the world, cuz he knows all he needs is one chance.Whether a college grad or ex-con he knows he wants to bring home the bacon, but just can't. It's probably one of the worst feelings in the world, and ladies, we CANNOT apply more pressure by trying to live an unaffordable lifestyle.
Ladies, if you can't afford to push no Benz, don't expect him to.Even if he does go out, finds 2 jobs just to get you that whip to make you happy, he will begin to see the relationship as a job in itself. Hell while you @ home counting his ends he out looking for a chick like me who doesn't need a big baller. I'm tellin you, let a man know you support him, THEN motivate him to succeed. If he still can't start making moves, BOUNCE.It aint about the money it's the principle. IF He can't put on a tie and fill out a few applications what the fuck else won't he do in the future?
Brothas, if you wanna hustle, if you really wanna live life at full risk, do it.But DON'T do it for a woman. Ur child, pay off a debt,WHATEVER.But u niggas out here gettin money to keep pussy understand that type of pussy only knows money. And you know it's niggas out here w/more money than you anyway.Gone out there and be a trap star if you want, get arrested for sum bull while paper chasin. For what? Cuz ur girl needed extra acrylic on the nails? FUCK THAT. TAKE THE TIME TO FIND A WOMAN THAT WILL LOVE U NOW,IN UR CURRENT FINANCIAL POSITION.Cuz I guarantee that's some real love right there, and your quest for a better job or more $ will come naturally, cuz you'll WANT to support a life w/her, you won't be FORCED to.
To Both: You shoudln't start a relationship with anyone until you are able to support yourself. If you're old enough to be on your own, you can't be strong w/someone else until your strong on your own. That means mentally, physically, AND financially. Sure it's easy to fall for someone, love is a strong thing, but so is money. And protecting yourself from going broke from a relationship is protecting yourself and it's downright smart.
Back to my ex-ample.He wanted to move in w/me, yes even after the whole fiasco w/the other chick and soap opera bull. And though I wasn't interested in another relationship w/him, my heart was still there u know? So of course I CONSIDERED letting him move in,but the eventual HELL NO came outta me and that was that. You see,it took alot for me to get my place, and I would have loved nuttin better than to help a friend in need. But this was my ex-boyfriend-cheater-who-slept-probably-still-sleepin-with-married-woman-neva-had-job-then-doesn't-seem-to-want-one-now lookin ass friend. And if I'm going to improve my future, can't bring along the bad past.It aint cuz he broke, it's cuz his ATTITUDE will keep him that way. N I aint goin.
Point is: Have your own before you get with someone for their own. Feel me? They say love and money are 2 funny things. And if that's the case, make sure YOU have the last laugh.

Keep loving one another.

Crack Disappointed with His Rank in Current Black Deaths

“Man, back in the 80’s everybody respected me. They killed for me, got arrested for me, robbed they mama for me, hell a lot of muthafuckas even died for me. Now all of a sudden, ya’ll tellin me I’m not the top killa in the hood no more? Fuck that, I still got hoes suckin dick to get me and niggas still dying over me. I’ll always be king…”

Strong words from a strong substance. I had the chance to interview Kerr Ack, locally known simply as Crack, and asked him how he felt about no longer being the top killing substance in the Black community. Ack, in a surprisingly laid back mood, calmly explained his plight with being the #2 or possibly #3 :

KA: It seems Black people don’t even need me to die anymore. I mean, that wasn’t my intention when I stepped on the scene, I just wanted to see new places, be inside new ppl, touch new money, you know. Aint that everyone’s dream?
Now all of a sudden, I’m just some hand over foot type of deal. Niggas still ride for me, you know, but I see what’s goin on. Black people are hauling off and killin each other! I’m chillin on my glass couch you know, me and my lady and even SHE was crying after a couple news stories.
It was a time when I WAS the news story. Every news cast was about me, I made headlines. A couple niggas was getting robbed, gangbanged, but I was getting ALL they hype. They knew bout me. Now, I walk down the street people act like I’m old news. I still got my true fam, the ones who just can’t give me up. But it just aint the same anymore.

DUB: I see but if you’re so moved, emotionally, by the deaths of these innocent people, why don’t you leave? I mean you and I both know your effect on the Black community, don’t you find it a bit odd to now be concerned of their welfare?

KA: Concerned of their welfare? FUCK THAT SHIT man I’m here to take people on the ride of their lives. That’s it. And at one time, it seemed that’s all that people needed. Man, back in the 80’s everybody respected me. They killed for me, got arrested for me, robbed they mama for me, hell a lot of muthafuckas even died for me AND cops fucked with me. Now all of a sudden, ya’ll tellin me I’m not the top killa in the hood no more? Fuck that, I still got hoes suckin dick to get me and niggas still dying over me. I’ll always be king…

DUB: I’m sure you will. Nevertheless, at the rate of senseless violence in major urban cities alone how do you see yourself getting back on top?

KA: You know I feel like, I don’t need to be on top, I just don’t wanna be forgotten. I came through and changed lives. But with me, it was gradual you know? People took they time with me then hit rock bottom…(laughs softly) get it? ROCK bottom?

DUB: Yea I get it man...

KA: Anyway, niggas getting lazy yo, just poppin each other off, where’s the fun in that? Then they startin early; gettin em at the schools, on bus stops, hoes gauging out eyeballs and shit on a Sunday morning! I had ppl who wouldn’t even come see ME on Sunday morning!

DUB: Well at this rate what does the future hold? You know, where do you see yourself in 5, 10, maybe 20 years? And most of all, do you ever see yourself becoming #1 again?

KA: Maybe, but at the same time how can anything be #1 when everyone already dead? I saw what I did to families, but at least a muhfucka had some type of chance to say no feel me? Like, fuckin with me is a choice. But ya’ll out there getting shot, that’s outta my hands.
I know one thing, I aint goin anywhere. Been here, gon be here, illegal my ass I still know cops who got my back. But I’m just gon have to get on my grind, find work elsewhere, maybe in higher places like Hollywood.

(message)

DUB: Wow, well I must say this has been eye opening and thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts…

KA: Time? Shit I got all the time in the world. Matta fact, what you doin after this?

DUB: I’m busy. But once again, thank you Mr. Ack.

KA: Just call me Crack.

Perfect for part time, full time, students, single mothers, retired workers, veterans, hell you can even bring your dog to work!
Apply anytime, in person.

If you're offended, you should be. Having a Black president has changed very little, in my opinion, and I say that because when he was elected that's exactly what the average Black man was saying would happen...CHANGE.
But where?
I've been living on the East Side a few months now, and am seeing the same useless activity on the corner, in front of liquor stores, and backseats of squad cars as I did staying on the South Side. There are over 500,000 children without fathers in the United States and I'm sure I pass about 75 of em just goin to the post office. Brothas just be outside standing. FOR WHAT?
I'm done defending these Black men when it comes to stereotypes. I see it everyday. Old, young, mid age, whatever. These black men are decorating street corners like Christmas lights and it makes me sick. No, they're all not selling drugs, or pimpin, or "gangbangin" but gotdammit what the fuck else is there to do outside for 4 hours?
At the gas station there's 3 askin to pump my gas, 2 in front of the liquor store tryna get my number or sell a sack of weed, or 15 in white tees in front of an elementary school. Get yo grown ass somewhere, do something so you can be SOMEBODY in this society.
No more sob stories of "tryna be a black man in a white man's society." How you call yourself a man while standing silently while they become the same useless statistic as you?
AND OF COURSE,THIS IS NOT FOR ALL BLACK MEN, JUST SOME.BUT IT'S ALOT OF YA'LL MAN!
I'm just tired. I love my people, I do. But the proof is in the pudding.I see so much time and talent wasted with these brothas attempting to be hood kings and trap stars. There's ALWAYS something to do, there's always help needed somewhere, but our men continue to pursue the street career.
As a hard working woman it's hard to give you my number,Black man on the corner. You see I love a thug ass nigga, but being gangsta starts w/the mentality. And the realest thugs I've met are NOT out doing thug shit. They making moves, gettin real money, and being real inspirations. Black man on the corner, take a look at the world you're creating, and supporting. Our future is at stake, the seeds you've planted are growing in this concrete jungle and you aren't there to raise them. You're here, on the corner. We need to take our community back and you're just giving it away.
Black man on the corner, I love you, but I'm angry with you. The Black woman needs you there to hold her, the Black children needs you there to teach them, and the Black world needs you there to BREAK THE CYCLE.
It's time, hell it's past due. Just go inside. GO INSIDE. Sit down, and let the healing begin. It's TIME!

California Passes Donda West Law

The Donda West law, which was introduced in September, has officially become a California state law.

The law, inspired by the late mother of rapper Kanye West, makes health checks and a written clearance mandatory before being allowed to undergo plastic surgery in the state of California.

Nearly two years ago in November 2007, Donda West passed away at the age of 58 following cosmetic surgery. The retired professor underwent surgery without a medical clearance. Her preexisting coronary artery disease and multiple postoperative factors following surgery are what led to the fatal outcome.
"Sometimes patients may think they are well enough for cosmetic surgery, but in reality are not," Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter said. "This bill will potentially save lives."
Carter was contacted by Donda West's niece, Yolanda Anderson, to propose the bill in February 2008. The bill was approved by the Senate, but vetoed by the Governor, due to an overwhelming amount of bills.
Yolanda was determined to get the law passed, though. The Donda West Law Assembly Bill 1116 was re-submitted in February and as of October 12, 2009, it is now a law.

Congratulations to the West family. Hopefully this bill will promote correct and more thorough surgical procedures. I also hopes it helps to ease the pain of losing Ms. West, for she too was a hero and advocate for youth education. Please post or send me more information if you feel you or someone you know may need more assistance or information on wrongful deaths or incorrectly performed surgeries.

Usher Should Of BEEN signed them papers!

You know sumtin worms? Ever since my piece on "How to Cheat...and How to Get Cheated On" I've decided to lay back on relationships. I think people do need advice to get through the tough times but ultimately no one knows you or your mate like you or your mate. SO when I heard this phone call from Usher on the radio yesterday, it let me know people are still having problems, insecurity, and a need for ghetto revenge! And Usher's rich!

So as you can hear Usher's ex wife Tameka Raymond keyed Usher's car after he filed a complaint the night before. This happened last month but the audio clip was just leaked. I sympathize w/celebrities who REALLY have to deal w/personal problems in the limelight, but it's part of the territory. And unfortunately I gotta blame this one on Usher.
HE KNEW THAT BITCH WAS CRAZY!
And this is a situation where he was more than happy to put all his biz in the street. It was in song form but that just makes it easier for everyone to understand better. We can listen to his problems w/a tight beat behind it!
My real point is thoughts and intentions are actions. Usher has been profiting on his relationship problems since his album "Confessions." I found it manly for a man to stand in the spotlight and admit he was wrong. But now? He better get Lil Wayne on a track and surf n swag or sumtin.
Cuz no one wants to see a 31 year old man whimpering and crying like a lil girl how he can't get through or over a relationship. Us NON-celebrities take on serious issues everyday w/the ones we love, or don't love. Hell I STILL got a dent in my passenger side car door cuz of a mad ex. Do I blame him? NAW.
I blame myself. And so should Usher. Faithful or not he has to balance his career w/his homelife, and the man is well known for sleeping w/different women. It's 2009, you can find a chick who's willing to be the wife AND ignore your outside activities. Well I know I've found a few...
Here's my point. KNOW WHAT YOU'RE WORKING WITH. Whatever makes this chick tick, he's already aware of. He should've set up a trap w/a fake car and when she came to key it gets caught in a bear trap. When you're status is high, people who want to bring you down will go to ALL extremes, otherwise what's the point? Break up w/Usher, tell him he's scum of the earth, then leave.Let's be honest, how much would that hurt a man who gets offered sex everyday? If you know you have alot at risk, don't date a person who IS a risk.
Publicly this Tameka chick has been a problem. If we ALL know that, he should have too. People think she fucked up his car becuase of his new single, "Papers." NAWWWW. It happened a month ago so before the song was even released she was going ham. And now that the song is gaining popularity, I hope the brotha parked his toys in a garage or sumtin.
People, love will drive you to do things you NEVER thought you would. Don't let it get you to the point of no return. KNOW YOUR STATUS, YOUR MATES STATUS, AND THEIR TRUE PLACE IN YOUR LIFE. You've included this person as your significant other, and they want a big slice of your heart EVERYDAY. Can't give it? Bounce.
Either that or get ready to call Maaco. Paint job paint job!
Now gon sign them papers!

Oh, Go Fuck Yourself! (you might like it)

Ladies? All my Ladies! This one’s for you!
As a tomboy at heart I have a lot of male friends whose jokes, a lot of the time, have a penis related punchline. Nuttin gay, it’s just guys mention their dicks a lot more than they tend to notice. Like I said I’m accustomed to it, listening to jokes of the last King Magazine spread they choked the chicken to, or philosophical questions like,
“Okay, suck it, fuck it, or beat it…pick any 2 chicks and 1 HAS to be your wife/girlfriend.”
You get what I mean . Guys are pretty comfortable talkin bout their junk. Whether it’s rude or comical, it’s a fact. I have a high school friend that TO THIS DAY will answer the phone w/a greeting of, “G, I just got done beatin off. (Laughs) I almost bust on my microwave!”
After I question his solo project being done in the kitchen in the first place, he keeps going and I’m laughing till I can’t breathe. Naw, I’m not offended. We’re both adults and although it SOUNDS immature, we’re mature enough to look @ masturbation as just something to do, NOT a sexually perverted, “oooh I don’t do that” type of thing.
(I laugh) ”So now that you done beatin off you still tryna hit the club lata?” Real talk that’s how our conversations are lol.
SO LADIES, WHY CAN’T WE BE THAT OPEN?
I know it’s hella women out there who take a moment or two to give themselves pleasure, with themselves. And it’s nothing wrong w/that!
I don’t want every woman running round in the mall and at work yappin bout last night’s finger fest BUT in general, it seems women and masturbation are still taboo. A funny sitcom shows the 1st time a father finds out his son found his Playboy and isn’t just peeing in the bathroom. The movie American Pie will forever be known for the famous “warm apple pie” scene. It’s like, men get to stroke the pole whenever AND have fun w/it when ladies have to wait till midnight w/a room full of candles and 4 different mechanical objects…lemme stop.
Even when women are together, most conversations, that are sexual, are about the great sex w/a man (or woman), jokes about how “a nigga put it down” or how “it was a pussy’s waste of time.” It’s really focused on the activity with someone else, how someone else made them feel good or bad. I would LOVE to, but rarely hear a conversation where a woman calls another woman similar to the following:
“Whattup girl? What you doing?
“Nuttin just got done rubbin one out, bout to head to the store in a minute. What you on?”
Lol I know, but you see what I mean. Women, even in today’s society, are willing to go to all extremes to please themselves in almost every way but sexually. And when we do, it’s like we ain’t supposed to or sumtin. WHATTUP W/DAT? We’ll spend hours in salons and thousands on clothes but can’t take 5 or 10 minutes to gain a physical and mental release? Cmon!
This isn’t some feminist geared thinking. I simply think women would be able to handle their emotions much better if they depended on themselves FIRST for sexual satisfaction. Meaning, when you’re stressed lose that attitude and start pointing (HA!)
Sex is beautiful. I know I like it, dunno bout you. But sex is a very, VERY powerful thing and at times used as a weapon in relationships and personalities. Men and women tend to fall in love after a few good climaxes cuz once you find a good one you wanna keep it, right? But the first step to getting pleased is knowing HOW you’re pleased. So, I am a proud advocate of female masturbation.
All women’s bodies are different, unlike a dude we can’t grab a hold and get off with one repetitive motion. We have spots, sensitive areas, and different sensations that drive us nuts. As a woman, you should know those spots BEFORE anyone else. You know why? Cuz if you don’t, whoever else does will be the mofo you lookin for in the daytime w/a flashlight. And there is no worse frustration than sexual frustration.
Ladies, masturbation is WAAAAAY more than making yourself get off. It’s a way to know yourself. When you touch yourself you’re not only becoming familiar w/your body (which is important ask your doctor) but you’re enjoying it. Women have so many issues with their bodies; weight, skin, hair, face, feet, face, breasts, butt blah blah blah. If there was at least one way to take a look at ourselves and say, “hey, I’m hot!” then why not? It’s easy, it’s our bodies, it’s NATURAL, and gotdammit if you don’t wanna touch yourself why the hell should anyone else wanna? Most importantly, it simply makes you feel GOOD. It even promotes safe sex cuz , well, it’s just you!
I masturbate…A LOT. And I really don’t care how people look at me for that. Sure I could lose a few round the waste and my acne gets ridiculous but I FUCKING LOVE MYSELF. And if that means making the love come down a few times then so be it. I refuse to allow anyone else to love me better than I love myself in ANY way. And that’s what masturbation is.
So, hopefully your cheeks have lost their blush and you’re able to see why I even decided to put this out there. I hope no matter what you do, it makes YOU happy cuz that’s what’s important. Now, I’m gonna end here cuz you look like you’re ready to pet the kitty…yeah I said it!
Peace n Sweet Sweet Love lol

Her Old Ass Taught Me A Lesson lol

Today was one of my most patience-testing days of my whole life. No crazy drivers, no unexpected bills, no drama from associates...just one old lady and a department store.
My great aunt is one of the most giving, thoughtful, and determined women I've ever known. Aunt Bea is ALOT years old and she's been through alot, therefore she demands certain things to be exactly how she wants it. Unfortunately, these types of demands may not be met at places like Walmart, or Office Max.
When she called me to take her shopping for a computer chair, I figured this would be simple. I know exactly where to find one and she's already called 15 stores Chicagoland-wide, narrowing it down to 2. Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to her demands about the chair she was looking for; she wanted a chair with 4 legs, not 5.
If you have an office/computer chair, look down at the legs attached to the wheels. How many are there? Most likely 5 right? Now why should you care? Cuz that fact alone cause me 2 painful hours in Walmart. My aunt had this crazy idea that the chairs with only legs (which aren't manufactured anymore because there's simply not enough support. Americans are a lil more thicker these days). She also wanted a ceiling fan but declined their whole inventory because they weren't assembled on display.
She made an employee follow her through the whole store, take down displays she wasn't allowed to, and reprimanded her for not having the leg chair she called about the day before. We found nothing, went to Office Max, same experience but only an hour spent. THEN she mentioned she wanted to go elsewhere to find the ceiling fan...Lowe's. I dunno what happened I just walked miles round the store.
Make a loooooong story short I drove to bout 4 different stores just for her to come back with fabric dye and ONE ink cartridge for her printer. Sigh. The last "nice" day of the month and I'm stuck in this shit.
Before I went to pull out my locks I remembered, these are things that are important. She's old, she's demanding, but there was a time where she couldn't pick and choose what she wanted, she had to settle. And now that she's older, she can focus on all the little things that will make her happy. Here I am begging her to just pick a chair, just buy a fan don't trip! But naw, she refused, and I had to respect that. We can't get what we want all the time, but when we don't it should be motivation to get it next time. What's important to one person may not be to another but the passion is the same.
My point is, if you still feel my aunt's a little nutty, I understand. I question her nitpickin sometimes too.But if you don't get the principle, you may need to start demanding some things of your own. Matter of fact, fuck what I said before,
YOU CAN HAVE WHAT YOU WANT, ALL THE TIME. IT'S UP TO YOU ON HOW TO GET IT...

Hope my lil story was some motivation. Stand tall in your beliefs and desires, they're a part of you and you're BEAUTIFUL! Take care worms, and thanx again for readin.

Anti-Violence? or Anti-Action?

When I was a sophomore at Morgan Park High School in Chicago I HATED taking the bus home. CTA sucks and that year I found every way home possible except the bus. Lol my friends to this day dunno that I'd wait for them to leave then take my bike I hid at a teacher's house down the block. And walking all the way 111th and Vincennes to 104th and Michigan was nothing to me.I enjoyed it, but, I knew my path would take me clean cross Fenger High School's campus and lemme put it to you this way. They ain't like us too much. I dunno if it was a rival thing or they simply knew Morgan Park was a better HS.It wasn't the best, but better. So when some MP students took that route, fights would sometimes break out just because, lol they smelled a MP Mustang approaching and if the right group was there...jump city. And you know what I did? Ran. Ran like the muhfuckin wind. I caught a few blows and threw a few myself, but I mostly ran lol. I look back at those times and laugh; I can say it was just a few knuckleheads flexing their muscle, using a high school as a gang. But in reality it wasn't funny then, and it aint now.
When Derrion Albert, a 16 year old Fenger High honor student walked home from school he didn't get that experience. As a matter of fact, he'll never be able to tell his experience because he's dead. The nostalgia I know as simple childhood fights has become fatal, and it's fuckin sad. HOWEVER, I also know this isn't the first and won't be the last incident of unnecessary school/gang violence. Everyone's angered at the parents, the school, the police...where are all the people who are mad at themselves?
We deserve it...this is OUR FAULT. Don't sit there and say you're innocent cuz you aint. You probably one of the many who wait until the news and media gets ahold of a case, blows it up, then you jump up yellin anti violence at rallies and shit.I aint goin.
This gon make alot of ppl mad cuz it's gonna seem like I don't care. I care, ALOT. My 16 yr old cousin also attends a high school on the South Side and during the summer I would have to drop him off and pick him up cuz the buses were too occupied with niggas ready to bang. Last year an old friend lost her nephew to school gang related violence on the North Side.Turn off the TV and really ask ppl who they've lost, you'll be surprised. You'll also come to learn they care more about their losses than the ONE being over televised on the news.
1.We ALL know a nigga w/a gun. That's mistake number one.
2.We GLAMORIZE this shit in movies, music, and even fashion!
3.Everyone screaming it's the parents. Some of US are parents, who you blaming now?
4.When have you really sat down and talked to these young ppl? Not in some after school program or presentation, but in real life.
5.Our focus never REMAINS on anti-violence and stopping the crime. If we were CONSTANTLY active the media would have no choice but to report and keep abreast of ALL the problems

But WE don't.There are some who do take that extra mile, but not enough.I look at all the ppl twittering...I saw a good 3 days worth of Derrion Albert tweets then on day 4 it was back to whatever the fuck we twitter about. LMAO Chicago itself is taking more notice to the Olympics than to ANYTHING, including our at risk youth.
I stay in the hood and love it.I'm a loner but I talk to ppl, I meet ppl everyday and I get REAL insight.
Black ppl are afraid of each other, and fear breeds ignorance, ignorance breeds frustration, and that can lead to violence. We talk big shit about needing to unite and save our children, but when I hit the beauty salon I see mothers calling their kids all types of muthafuckers and bitches. WHITE PPL DO IT TOO they be in Target goin ham on little Sarah and Billy.
YES these brothers are being raised w/o fathers, yes the teachers suck, yes the media is a bad influence, yes the church is corrupt, yes yes yes these are things that we know...when will the blame game stop? And we all will gather at police stations, city halls, whatever to scream and shout and cry and the next day don't do shit. When's the last time you talked, REALLY talked, to your alderman? Do you even KNOW your alderman? Parents, how well do you know your children's teachers, elementary, high school, period? When's the last time you saw a young brother on the corner and told him you don't hafta do this? WHEN WHEN WHEN??
New problems need new solutions and No this isn't a new problem but we SURE ACTING LIKE IT. So start gettin it in.
There are TONS of local programs, right in your area, that have taken the initiative to do action, not speak it. Problem is they're already at work, and when they ask for assistance from the COMMUNITY THEY'RE TRYING TO SERVE they come up short. The CeaseFire organization (which is teamed with CAPS, by the way, a policing organization in Chicago) has been needing funding for years in order to help young ppl get assistance for jobs, going to college, and other needs.

I could go on, but I started w/my story to say this: It was never right, just tolerable. And though it doesn't seem like it, we're still making violence tolerable.Cuz hootin and hollering is not going to take the anger out of these young people's heart, is NOT going to show them the way, and is not going to replace that void with love, TRUE love.
Only we can. We don't have the Dr. Kings and Garveys and Malcolms, we only have us. Other than Obama, our Black idols are those of entertainment. Even Reverend Run started out rappin. And Obama got his head so far up Copenhagen's ass he can't really see what's crackin in his own hometown. So who can we really blame? Ourselves.
You won't catch me at any more anti violence rallies. I go to Mexican immigration protests and lectures on corrupt politics. I will continue to spread the TRUTH about the society these teens are forced to live in FIRST, before making them out to be "bad kids." I will continue to talk to young people, keep in touch, find job and college information, and most importantly, I will continue to relate.
It hurts to see our young people get murdered and hurt, but it hurts even more to see the same unsolved problem get attended to in the same way. Talk the talk, then walk the talk, so we can all eventually fly.

And to the family and friends of Derrion Albert, may God Bless you and keep you in peace. R.I.P. Brotha Albert.

Relationships and Cell Phones? I'm outta minutes..

When you're checkin your phone for bars, you won't find the thin line we cross called RESPECT. We've come to expect way too much from cell phones while at the same time totally abusing its luxury. AND THAT'S ALL IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE, A LUXURY, A PAID PRIVILEGE, A MEANS OF CONVENIENCE. So why does this little pre-paid or contracted, plastic sliding and flippin,Gucci Mane ringtone playing piece of shit have sooooo much power over our connections w/ppl? Cuz we let it, stupid.
TEXTING
Let's get one thing straight. The text message is just that. A MESSAGE. And like any message, voicemail, office memo, email, all get checked when the person is available to check it. Don't send a message needing urgent response through a text. Though many ppl stay glued to their phone's inbox, many don't, and chose to use texting for times not suitable for str8 talkin on a phone. But oh NO, YOU WANNA TAKE IT PERSONALLY.
You wanna go ham cuz it's been 2 hours since u sent a text and gotten no response. A message will always be just that, a message.Waiting to be sent, waiting to be received. So you gon hafta wait up too. Either that, or just, oh I dunno, actually dial the number and call! Try it!
Then you got what ppl are calling, "text tones." Yea. A text is words, sentences, making it literature lol. Just like a book or my blogs, u take words that you see AND NOT HEAR the way you want to. So when you read a text and are left wondering, "what did that mean?" don't try figuring it out on ur own! Cuz u can't! And u have no right. What was said in that text excludes the presence of the person, his/her emotions and physical behavior, all things needed to properly determine one's true mood or tone. NOT the fact you didn't see an LOL at the end so that means the person wasn't jokin come on you're ridiculous.
And don't CONTINUE the text misunderstanding via text.Texting back, "what you mean by that?" will put u further into textual confusion. Ooh I like that phrase, textual confusion. If you're letting words on this little screen get u heated u need to stop NOW, get a human voice in ur ear and get the REAL or suffer amongst the unknown. Your choice.
CALLING
A cell phone is to replace the home phone cuz we're not at home alot. Great. So why is it soooo hard for ppl to understand just cuz the phone can take calls all the time doesn't mean we can. Ppl got shit to do, and it's nice being able to keep in touch with a click of a button. But once again, that's a LUXURY, not a law..So even the LONGEST cell conversation may not be the most accurate to the person's present feelings and current situations. Small lies become pretty much acceptable, let's be honest. And even when truth is being told, for some reason it always SOUNDS like an excuse on a cell phone. Examples:
"What you doin?"
"Aww, nuttin."
Usually you are doin SOMETHING, just not interesting, or SAFE, enough to say.
"Yea I'm on my way home now."
As he/she stops at a store to get some toothpaste and shit, probably run into a friend and talk for a minute or get hungry and stop again for food. Now it's been 30 minutes and THAT MUHFUCKA SAID THEY ON THEY WAY HOME BUT THEY WORK ONLY 10 MIN AWAY SO WTF RIGHT? Wrong.
"My battery going dead."
Now this is honesty, phones go dead. But some of the time that aint the real deal, but YOU have to accept it cuz, well, you have no choice. You dunno where this person is and won't know till that battery gets up. That's the point.
"I'm gon call you back." or "Lemme hit you right back."
Both mean the same thing, don't even try to pick and choose the wording. Right back is the same as back and they all mean one thing: Hopefully you've said enough of what you needed to say cuz I gotta go and am obviously in a situation where I either dunno exactly when I can hit you back OR probably just won't anytime soon. But there was no specification on when I'm gon call you back, or WHY I should even if u wanted me to.
I know this is harsh, especially for my relationship dwellers out there. But you gotta learn to be STRESS FREE about shit not worth stressin in the first place.

Just last night I got a text from a woman asking was her man w/me. Now, of course I KNEW who it was, just chose not to acknowledge that.I said whoever this is, stay off my phone unless you talkin bout money. There. Now in my opinion, I have a right to end it there, even IF I was w/her "man." But she felt she has a right to call whoever she wants, esp on thirst mode when searching for her man lover lmao. She continued saying he wasn't answering her calls/texts and if he was with me it was my place to tell him she's looking for him...
Lemme give that another moment....
...marination...
HELL MUTHAFUCKIN NAW IT AINT MY PLACE TO TELL NOBODY SHIT. Esp since yea, he was w/me, but NO we weren't doin anything. And I mean ANYTHING. So I didn't feel in the least big wrong.2 adults, watching the game, not answering the phone cuz, well, we aint wanna. Now by her abusing her privilege of cell usage she has invaded my right of privacy by demanding information. By also using texts she exposed just how pathetic she really is too. But I'm SURE all that wasn't her intention when she picked up her phone;she just wanted to find her man. And I understood, I did, and like any understanding person I told her what she needed to hear. "Fuck off, you thirsty bitch."
Look, I've been through it with facebook, myspace, text, voicemail...seems the last time I had a real beef was this old lady tryna cut me in line at Walgreens last year. Yea I almost dropkicked the elderly ya'll. Lol what I'm tryna say is there's enough issues out there in the world, and here you are with a person who you love, adore, or is great at fucking, whatever and wanna complain about some cell phone shit.
My top 3 rules for this cell phone mess
1.Stop checking ur mate's phone! What you THINK you wanna know you may not find out.But you will for SURE lose ur mate's trust.
2.Stop jumping to conclusions. You could be missing out on your next wife or husband cuz he/she wasn't able to get back to your text in enough time. i know, you call and call and they say they gon hit you back so wtf is the problem? Look, if you're just sick of trying to contact this person, THEN STOP TRYING TO CONTACT THIS PERSON. They'll call YOU when they NEED you. But you knew that already, cuz that's how ALL PEOPLE ARE.
3.Put the phone down. If every time you get a message or a call, or everytime you don't, you're left stressed, you may need to just chill on the wireless plan altogether. Use the damn thing to make necessary calls only, stop the super social status, enjoy talking to ppl face to face. Invite a muhfucka over, take a walk, read a book do something!

Okay I'm hungry now so I'm ghost. Let's try to find ways to love each other ppl. I use my texts for exposure of infomation. Asks my worms, they get daily text of motivation and job information. I'd rather pay AT&T for that than for more venues of misery. Take care of yourselves, and if you too would like to receive "Daily Word from Da Urlee Byrd" text your name to (773)860-7398. I don't mind puttin my real # out there cuz I have no stalkers, and I have no problem hanging up on a muhfucka I don't like. Ya'll take care and uh, text me sometime ;-)

Lol, smiley face.
